Winner of the Outstanding award - E.Sun awards in Taiwan

October 20, 2022

主旨: E.SUN Awards

Thrilled to announce that my painting has won the OUTSTANDING award at the 主旨: E.SUN Awards in Taipei, Taiwan.

Layers of Time, 60 x 70cm, Oil on canvas

The painting has been also been purchased and is now part of the E.Sun 主旨 Bank’s prestigious art collection in Taipei.

As part of this 5 yearly international painting prize - Artists were invited to convey the beauty of Yushan - The tallest mountain in Taiwan. The Main Peak of Yushan is 3,952 meters above sea level. It is also the highest peak in Northeast Asia and is truly spectacular.

The judging panel was made up of some of Taiwans top Art professionals; The director Taipei National University of the Arts, The Professor of the arts from Tunghai University, as well as Gallerists including InSian Gallery in Taipei.

As you can imagine I am so honoured and delighted to be an award winner. But also extremely grateful to the E.Sun bank 主旨 for their generous prize money and support of the arts.

Minsheng East Road, Songshan District,Taipei City 105, Taiwan

Layers of Time, oil on canvas. 70 x 80cm

I found it fascinating to understand how the Yu shan mountain range was formed with the Eurasian and Philippine sea plate meeting all those years ago. The way in which I paint with oil paints is to build up layers, many thin layers, adding and taking away the paint.  Just like really the way the mountains formed and also how it is still being formed today with erosion, the wind and the rain and the elements.

Reviews

"I've quite fallen in love with your evocative, sensual paintings. It's extraordinary that even as an internet thumbnail sized image the work vapourously conveys a much much larger Celtic grandeur. It's all very mythical. I'd love to be able to use some of your work in upcoming projects for clients.  In fact it's very much worth seeing your work now since it has the sort of presence one really needs to build an interior scheme around. "

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, TV presenter & Interior designer.

Amy Albrights paintings seem to already have their own language, with unusual movement, a drifting, and depth with the works which is compelling.  There is a sense of real exploration of space, which she has made her own, a place where through veils of paint we are allowed a glimpse into a shimmering world.

Testimonials:

'I absolutely love my painting. There is so much depth and vibrancy of colour in the piece that it stands out as the centrepiece of my room, and really adds brightness and character to it. There are so many layers and hidden details that I keep discovering and it completely fits the space it was made for.'  Rupert, Commercial Director, London. Re. Commissioned painting.

'Just a quick note to thank you so much for our painting, hung proudly on our kitchen wall yesterday and every time we walk past it seems we visually unpeel another layer of work, it really gets better each time we look.
Thank you so much'

'We're both delighted with our painting Tidal Shifts and enjoying it very much. The photos
didn't really do it justice as it's much better in real life.'

‘They fill me with peace and keep my interest at the same time. I see new details almost everyday and they really work well in the room together’
