A Two day Expressive Landscape Painting course
May 2025 (Date tbc) - £175pp - Contact me to register your interest.
On this two day course we will be painting outside on the dramatic North Coast of Cornwall.
A combination of studio led at the studio at Krowji, (Redruth) and outdoor painting, with guidance from Artist and tutor Amy throughout.
Focussing on capturing the coastline of North coast of Cornwall, Amy will guide you to paint in an expressive, playful manner, starting with black and white abstract sketches followed by layering up a painting with using water based watercolour and acrylic paint.
We will paint outside over looking Porthtowan, Chapel Porth or St Agnes beach, (Location to be to be decided depending on weather/wind) If there is a strong north wind we may have to venture inland or to Falmouth, no where more than 30 minutes from Krowji Studio base.
Amy will demonstrate and guide you through drawing activities to ‘abstract from the landscape’.
Incorporating useful colour combinations and tips from Amy, there will be a focus on bringing emotion into your work, you will be working on many large pieces of paper and then onto primed boards, all of which is provided.
We will focus on our emotional expressionistic view of the landscape, rather than a direct representational approach.
We then have the luxury of going back to a studio at Krowji in Redruth, assessing work, adding details, cropping, and shaping your expressive landscape paintings, adding subsequent layers if we wish. You will come away rejuvenated and with a series of new paintings on paper and board.
-Please bring a packed lunch, water and old clothes/coat/dungerees. This course will have an element of flexibility depending on the weather and winds. I know places we can go with shelter so what ever the weather will have sketching time outside. Depending on weather the studio/outdoor sessions may swap around, this will be organised nearer the time and an email will be sent giving you the location.
There is a focus on PROCESS, finding your own style with the guidance and helpful tips from Amy who has been a practicing artist for more than 16 years and a tutor for 10 years.
All Materials provided.
